Alright guys, today I'll be sharing with you guys my recommendations of Kpop Groups that I think you should listen to if you're new. Basically, this is for those who are new to Kpop and wants to listen to some great music.
2012: This is one of my favorite year where a lot of great groups debuted as rookies such as B.A.P, EXO, NU'EST, BTOB, Hello Venus, Vixx and many more! And with the debut of these groups there are great variety of music that each group is rooted in which it's great because then people will get bored of Kpop as if two groups from different companies where to say, produce music from the same genre, it will sound similar which gives the viewers and fans the idea of boredom.
So let's talk about these groups and how I began to like these groups. Today I'll be covering the famous Kpop group, B.A.P!
B.A.P
This group debuted with the song Warrior on January 25, 2012 under TS Entertainment. Therefore, they are the under the same label mates of Secret. At first, when I heard Warrior, I felt that the song sucked(That was before lol). The only part I found interesting at that time was Zelo's rap. Back then, I didn't listen to any Korean Hip-Hop groups as I only listen to groups leaning more the Pop side such as Beast(The first Kpop Group I listened to) and SNSD(My favorite female girl group <3 Yoona). Anyway when I first listen to this song, I was like what kind of shitty song is this and whenever I listened to it I would laugh at it as I felt the group was rubbish. However, one day, when I was in school, the song Warrior keeps playing in my head, it just wouldn't stop, which made me when straight home and keep replaying the song over and over again. From then on I felt that this is one of the best song in Korean. And I felt BYG(Yongguk) and Zelo's rap are great. The chemistry in this group is amazing as each member are great in specific areas. Yongguk is great at rapping with the flow and rhythm due to his past as a member of an undergroup hip-hop group Soul Connection under the name of Black Jeppman, while Zelo is the best when it comes to rapping fast thus earning him the nickname LTE Rapper(Meaning 4G rapper as LTE refers to 4G which is faster than 3G). Then moving on to the vocals, we have Youngjae and Daehyun who performs their role in the group greatly as the Lead Vocals of the group. You might notice that Daehyun is more like a Main Vocalist as he is the one who pulls off the high notes every time and therefore many people assume his a better singer than Youngjae which is not true as firstly, both members already stated that their the Lead Vocals of the group. How Daehyun get's more singing parts was because the group mostly have high notes during the chorus which the company felt that Daehyun is better at pulling off high notes. However, Youngjae is also an important member in the group, while Daehyun handles the high notes in a song, Youngjae is in charge of the low notes of the song. That is why if you listened to the song "Everything Pretty" which is a collaboration between Secret's Sunhwa and Youngjae, you will realize that Youngjae is the lead singer instead of Daehyun as the company felt that Youngjae is better suited for the part because if Daehyun is singing the part then the song will sound very awkward. Also Youngjae and Daehyun were chosen to have similar yet different roles as the company find that members with different voices are better as who wants two members with a similar voice type? That's all about singing and rapping, besides that, dancing is also an important part of the group. When it comes to dancing, Jongup is the one that stands out from the other members as he's the best at dancing. Maknae and rapper of the group, Zelo is also great at dancing making him the lead dancer of the group. Like their vocal hyungs, they were also chosen to contrast each other. Jongup is more of the b-boying style while Zelo is more of a robotic dance(Sorry I can't explain). Ah I've describe every roles and how each members perform properly. But wait --- ! There's still one more member and that's Himchan! In case you do not know whose Himchan, his the guy with the most pretty face in the group lol(No homo). And you should be able to recognize him away with his deep voice. His role in the group is simple yet difficult as he's the face of the group or in this case the visual of the group. Being the visual means that he have to always have to be good looking and must always stand out from the group. Many people considered visual to be useless, however, the visual is the one that brings in fans and support to the group as people are usually attracted to handsome guys and pretty girls.(I'll be covering the positions of what a Kpop consists of). Beside's being the visual of the group, Himchan along with Jongup is the sub-vocalist of the group(I'll also cover that in another section soon) in that they support the songs by providing vocals. Himchan is also a multi-instrumentalist meaning he is able to play multiple instruments. One such fun fact to note is that the background music in No Mercy was composed by Himchan and he suggested that traditional Korean music fits perfectly well. Beside's Warrior, the group also perform various songs that can vary from hip-hop to pop to ballad to other sorts of music such as Power, No Mercy, Stop it, Crash, One Shot, Hurricane and their most recently song, Badman. The group has been really busy with promotions and albums producing more than once in these 2 years.
